Albert Uria began his filmmaking career assisting still photographers in and around Spain, eventually working his way up to line producer. Although he loved producing, an underlying creative itch kept resurfacing. The scratch propelled Albert to the Photography Institute of Barcelona where he began to produce and direct shorts finding his true calling as a director.
Albert’s films are characterized by an underlying sense of mischief – an energy that keeps you glued to the screen, but then makes you want to get up go do as soon as the film is over. He has an innate sense for juxtaposition; knowing the best sequence of images to elicit an unexpected and almost primal human response. Visually, he seamlessly shifts between the moody and the light; the raw and the more traditionally composed. Cinematic all the way through, whether an epic story teeming with stunts and choreography, or a quiet, intimate dialogue exchange. In a word, Albert’s signature style traverses all genres – high-octane adrenaline, romantic, comedic, you name it – while still remaining true to his creative voice.
Albert’s international client base consists of Coca-Cola, Audi, Head & Shoulders, McDonald’s, Nike, Ferrari, Corona, Volkswagen, Ikea, and State Farm, among many others. His body of work has garnered award recognition with Cannes Lions and nominations at the Spanish Academy Awards. He recently directed several episodes of the TNT & HBO MAX television series La Muchacha Que Limpia, which will begin airing winter of 2019.
